Work Visa Application

The candidate initiates the work visa case with FGI. The FGI is responsible for assessing the work permit category and sending the document checklist to the candidate. The candidate has to send the documents listed to the FGI.

The Bahrain employer must apply to the General Directorate of Immigartion and passports to verify any pending criminal investigations regarding the applicant

The applicant must submit a medical examination report proving that he/she is free from any type of communicable disease.

The company representative has to submit the work permit application to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority(LMRA).

The applicant must have a copy of their work visa approval to enter Bahrain.

Documents Required

The applicant needs to submit a visa application form that is completed and filled with all the correct information, And signed at the end.

A passport that is valid for at least six months during the applicant's Bahrain work visa application.

The applicant must carry at least 2 passport-sized photographs. The photographs should be colored, with white background.

A copy of the employee’s work contract is necessary, which has all the necessary details of the employee like name, birthdate, and nationality.

This letter is provided by the employer which includes the employer's name, organization, commercial registration number, employee's position, salary, and contract validity.

A health record of the employee stating that he/she is free from all types of communicable diseases from an authorized clinic.

The applicant must submit proof of work visa fee payment.

Types of work visa

Business visitors who are only in the country for a short period can obtain one of these visas upon arrival. It requires an onward ticket and a valid passport.

Anyone willing to stay in Bahrain for more than a week for business needs a business visa. This visa is valid for up to four weeks, and the duration differs depending on the type of trip.

All the employees will be required to have a work visa before they can start working in Bahrain. This permit is valid for one to two years and also entitles the workers to reside in the country. Employers are supposed to arrange most of the paperwork.

immediate family members of the employees will need a family visa, also known as a residence permit, so they can reside in Bahrain during the employment period, but they cannot work unless they hold a separate work visa.

Additional considerations

Once the employees get their work permit, they are automatically eligible to live in Bahrain. The family members of the employee will need a family visa, only the immediate family of the employees get this visa, not the extended family. Employees need to apostille their documents, including their marriage certificate, birth certificate, and educational degree certificate, When applying for a family visa.
